Porcelain Veneers Q & A
What Are Porcelain Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are thin slivers of porcelain that cover only the front of the teeth. Unlike veneers, porcelain crowns cover the entire tooth. Depending on your specific case and the results you are want to achieve, Dr. Donia will determine the correct treatment option for you.
Porcelain veneers can correct the following cosmetic issues:
- Chipped teeth
- Cracked teeth
- Stained teeth
- Crooked/misaligned teeth
What To Expect When Getting Porcelain Veneers
The process of applying porcelain veneers and crowns requires several visits to the office. During your initial consultation, Dr. Donia will show you some examples of the issues that can be corrected and address any additional concerns or desires you have in order to design your perfect smile. Once your treatment plan has been established, the first appointment will consist of a gentle contour of the outer layer of enamel which will serve as the foundation for your future smile.
Dr. Donia will make an impression of your newly contoured enamel to serve as a guide in the creation of your veneers. Custom temporaries are then created and applied, these custom temporaries closely match the results discussed at the consultation.
The next visit is the seat appointment, at this time, Dr. Donia will remove the custom temporaries and apply the permanent veneers. The dentist will confirm that the veneers complement the features and contours of your face. Porcelain veneers are resistant to stains due to the non-porous properties of the material and are expected to last up to 20 years if they are cared for properly.
